The 718th Tactical Fighter Wing is an association of metropolitan New York, New Jersey and Connecticut computer combat flight simulator enthusiasts.

The 718th TFW was started by Tom “Roustabout” D’Angelo in February of 1994. The Wing is currently one of the oldest and largest localized combat flight simulator groups in the United States. We enjoy flying air combat simulators both cooperatively and against each other "head-to-head" via modem, the Internet and local area network. If you are interested in air combat simulators I’m sure that you will find a number of other people here that share your interest.

Many wing members get together once or twice a month in Manhattan to network their computers and fly multiple campaign missions on the LAN against/with human opponent/allies. We call these meetings “Netmeets.” Netmeet’s are a great opportunity to meet other local flight sim enthusiasts face-to-face, share tactics and tips, and fly some H2H against/with human opponents. If you are curious what a Netmeet sounds like, try downloading some of the audio wav files from our Netmeet page!

The 718th Tactical Fighter Wing has also hosted a number of national simulator competitions called the “Inter-TFW Competition” where teams representing squadrons from cities around the nation competed for prizes from major software and hardware manufacturers, not to mention bragging rights! In the 1995 ITFWC, the 718th Tactical Fighter Wing team finished 2nd place nationally out of nine teams competing. In 1996 the 718th TFW Skyscrapers placed 1st and were named national champions!

Some of our members have taken to the skies piloting real aircraft at the world renowned Air Combat USA. I encourage you to check out our Air Combat USA page and see how a bunch of computer sim pilots do when faced with the real thing!

We hope that you enjoy our web page. If you enjoy combat flight simulators, and are from New York, New Jersey or Connecticut, please consider joining the Skyscrapers! I encourage all sim pilots to check in by signing our electronic guest registry. By doing so, we will list your name, Callsign, e-mail address, location, and the sims you fly so others from your local area may contact you by e-mail.  Who knows .... You might just find enough local guys to start (or add to) your own local TFW.

As always, Happy Hunting!
