NCOIC'S DEBRIEF

The happy gang! No I am not saying 'WHOA'

A Quick 'n' dirty Debrief!!

It has been a very very long time since we've had a netmeet. Schedules. life changes, space constraints and just lack of activity have combined forces to stop netmeets in their tracks. Well that has stopped and not a moment too soon. The recent spate of home purchases while initially contributing to the netmeets paucity have now been borne fruit and suddenly  people have found that they have new space fer netmeets!! Both IP and Teeg had offered to host meets but Teeg got their first.

We had on station, CIWS, Skater, Mig, Razorback, IP, Digger, Enforcer and meself, 'The Beltfed'. It had been over a year since we'd seen each other or had a meet. Everyone seemed to look the same. Scary. :) It was good to see that peeps were well.

The setup went well as Teeg mentioned. No power issues reared their ugly head and the network worked flawlessly. There were only  a few niggling issues... eh em like me fergetting my DVI adaptor and the mouse part of my RF mouse setup. Skater had put together a PC fer RB. It needed a video card and Enforcer bought one fer RB.....too bad the mobo fried :) But it wasn't fer lack of trying.

The game of choice was again Il2-FB-PF. F4- Allied Forces was on station but not enough people had it installed. Additionally F4 has a VERY steep learning curve and will require more practice before we fly it at a meet. So IL2 et al was it. We started with some adversarial missions designed by CIWS. He'd set up ground targets and one side was tasked to defend and the other was attacking..file that under duh. :) The fight was on! We used the 'full real' ruleset. Sigh. WE flew H2H this way and predictably, the full real Nazis did very well. :) Teeg, CIWS, Digger and Enforcer were on one side with Skater, IP, Mig and I flying allied. The new 402M patch is the latest addition. Overall it seemed ok. There is always room fer argument, but my feeling is that the P51 is worse than the earlier patch versions. It seemed to be more sensitive to blackouts. Any stick movement would start the onset. Also I was having issues of my own. :) It's been awhile since I'd flown any sims so I was very rusty. Very :)

We flew this way fer a bit until we tried some cooperative missions. After some haggling about which rules to use we settled on external views, full cockpit and no padlock. We flew this way pretty much until the end of the meet. Lots of planes was shot down and got blowed up!

Around 3 am we  wrapped things up. Having had a great flying experience and just BS ing. Hopefully we can do this again real soon.

Talking points:

The ROE became an increasingly important topic. The full real rule set that we were flying with was the subject of considerable debate. It mirrors the online debate that rages also. Both sides have valid points but since we're all flyin the same sim with different tastes and preferences we need to find a happy medium. I feel that the ROE are in fact not real at all. While others swear by them. All I know is that I was having less fun with them as the meet went on. The learning curve was very flat in my case :) I wasn't the only one who was not enjoying them either. We have to find something that works fer as many as possible. Mebbe in adversarial missions the full real set can be used and in cooperative a more relaxed set can be used. Trying to agree on this is a good topic fer discussion in the wing. Especially before we have another netmeet.

IL2 ran flaw.
